The Practice

Daily Flow
Each day opens with meditation flowing into heart-felt, all-levels Bhakti yoga - themed with the elements to deepen our connection with the nature surrounding us, and infused with chanting, breathwork, and Animal Flow.
Afternoons bring our signature practices: restorative yoga, partner stretching, guided Thai massage, and free dance. Evenings settle into song circles and cultural excursions.

Pura Vida Wellness Retreat is rated as one of the best places to stay in Yelapa. Our incredible retreat offers a sanctuary for rejuvenation and self-discovery, surrounded by pristine beaches and lush tropical landscapes. Imagine falling asleep to jungle sounds, swimming in refreshing waterfalls and practicing yoga overlooking the blue-green bay. We'll have our own ocean-filled pool, jacuzzi, and smoothie bar to enjoy in our free time. Retreat guests have complimentary use of snorkel gear. We can assist with kayak and paddle board rentals with a local provider at a nominal fee.
Pura Vida takes pride in serving you healthy, vibrant food that is primarily organic and plant-based, and always wholesome and nourishing. Their chefs have a background in Mexican cuisine, along with training from Californian chefs - creating a fusion menu loved by guests. All food is gluten-free and vegetarian, with vegan options. Fish and chicken can be offered as per request for a small fee. Any allergies or food preferences can be accommodated with prior notice.

Pura Vida’s rooms are nestled on the side of a hill, and surrounded by lush jungle. Many of the rooms are open air style, allowing for sweeping views of the ocean and jungle. Each room is unique and designed to follow the contours of nature. Air conditioning is available for those who prefer it.

Frequently asked questions
Puerto Vallarta Airport (PVR) is only a 3-hour flight from San Francisco or 2 hours from Los Angeles. From the airport it's a 20-25 minute taxi drive to the Los Muertos Pier and a 40-minute Water Taxi ride to Yelapa.
You can either fly into Puerto Vallarta a day before the retreat starts or fly in early enough the day of to take the boat taxi. We recommend taking the 3pm or 5pm boat. We will send you detailed logistics after you book your space. Getting to Pura Vida is an easy, safe and very picturesque journey. Somebody from Pura Vida will be meeting you upon your arrival in Yelapa.
Guests can inquire about staying at the Resort before or after the retreat by CHECKING AVAILABILITY HERE.
It is required to have a passport valid throughout the length of your stay, so please check your expiration date. Entry visa to Mexico is free and valid for 180 days.
Yes indeed. This retreat is great for both singles and couples. Our practices create a safe space for healthy embodiment and connection. We offer a balanced mix of solo and connected practices. During the connected movement and massage practices, we encourage working with different bodies as we develop deeper trust with each other. We encourage strong boundaries and you always have the choice to participate at your level of comfort.
We recommend bringing the following:
In addition to all the movement sessions,we include a temazcal ceremony, jungle waterfall hike, snorkel gear, and all meals. Other optional excursions such as paragliding, kayaking, paddleboarding, and taking a private boat can be arranged at an extra cost.
The Pura Vida Spa is a true wellness heaven! Treatments available on-site include relaxing or deep tissue massage, hot stone therapy, reflexology, ozone therapy, reiki, body wraps, watsu, and more. Click here for more details and pricing.
As of now, Mexico does not require a negative COVID-19 test or proof of vaccination entry. We will be outdoors almost the entire time at this retreat.
Please note that because our retreats are limited to a small number of attendees, to allow for a more personable experience, our cancellation policy is in place to help guests and us alike work together sharing expenses that may arise from unexpected cancellations.
All deposits & payments are NON-REFUNDABLE. This includes acts of God, Covid-19, or Mother Nature. Purchase of travel insurance is highly recommended to cover unexpected circumstances that could arise.
In the rare case that you cannot attend, your retreat deposits could be transferred or used as credit for a future retreat with us only if you give us 30 days notice before the retreat starts.
No one books a retreat with the intention of cancelling it, but unexpected events do occur. Exceptions cannot be made for any reason, including weather, injury/illness, or personal emergencies. Trip insurance should also be purchased to cover medical expenses in the event you have an accident while on the retreat. Most travel insurance must be purchased within 14 days of making your reservation. We reserve the right to cancel or postpone retreats with inadequate participant interest, in which case all money paid will be refunded or transferred to a future date. Notification of cancellation for this reason will occur at least 1 month prior to the retreat start date. CY Retreats cannot be held responsible for any personal expenses, such as airline tickets due to changes in itineraries or retreat cancellations.
COVID TRAVEL UPDATE
Please note that if the retreat has to be postponed based on border closures, then a credit for a guests’ hold deposit will be issued to be used for the postponement date. If the retreat happens as scheduled, but a guest decides not to attend based on any other reason than a country's border closure, then the regular cancellation policy (stated above) will be maintained.
